Bo Staff Training

There are 60 Kata for training in Bo jutsu(6ft staff), all are done against an opponent with a sword. We concentrate on the Kamae and the Sabaki levels of techniques. We also pratice Strikes, Locks, chokes and throws using the Bo in our Taijutsu training.

Jo Staff Training

There are 8 Kata in the Jo jutsu training. All are praticed agaist a swordsman with the swordsman as the defender.  They are relativelty short with no more than nine movements.

Our Jo (4ft staff) training is quite different to Aikido in many ways, the Kamae (stances) and grips are in different places on the Jo and the body movement is also very differernt to Aikido.

Hanbo Staff Training

Striking, throwing, locking, choking are all praticed with the Hanbo (3ft staff).  A very versitile and effective form of stick training with many modern applications.

We also pratice the Kukishin Ryu kata for hanbo sword training, the kata contain the basic standing positiins (Kamae) and the
basic strikes from those points.
There are also many striking drills to learn making Hanbo a well rounded very pratical weapon.
